The best cat window perch depends on your window: suction-cup perches need a large pane of flat glass, while sill perches hook onto or sit on the window ledge. Check which one your window allows, then match the weight limit and bed size to your cat. We compared eight cat window perches, from a basic suction-cup hammock to a heated sill bed for winter.

How we evaluated these cat window perches
We didn’t install eight perches for this article. We read each Amazon listing, checked stock, seller and rating counts on Amazon (US, ZIP 10001) in October 2026, and compared what each maker lists for mount type, weight limit, bed size and window or sill requirements.
We left out a two-tier suction hammock with 7 ratings, a heated two-pack with under 10 ratings, and several new perches with fewer than 50 ratings.
Which type of cat window perch do you need?
Short answer: use a suction-cup perch if you have a large pane of clean, flat glass, and a sill perch if your window has a ledge or a slot but the glass is small, divided or textured. Choose a heated sill perch if your cat naps by a cold window in winter.
- Suction-cup perch: sticks to the glass with large suction cups. It needs enough clear, flat glass for the cups, so measure the pane first. Several of the perches here fold up against the glass.
- Hook-on sill perch: hooks into the slot or over the edge of the window ledge, with supports underneath. No suction cups and no drilling, but you need the right ledge or slot depth.
- Sill-mounted bed: a bed on legs that rests on the ledge and fixes with adhesive strips or screws. It can suit divided or textured glass, as long as the ledge is long and deep enough.
Cats like to watch the outdoors from a raised, safe spot. The Ohio State Indoor Pet Initiative calls a perch a must-have for indoor cats and suggests more than one, so your cat can look out at different angles.
How do you measure a window for a cat perch?
Short answer: for a suction-cup perch, measure the width and height of the clear, flat glass and compare it with the listing’s minimum. For a sill perch, measure the ledge length and depth, or the depth of the slot it hooks into.
The PEFUNY listing, for example, needs at least 25.6 inches of width and 23.3 inches of height of clear glass. The K&H Kitty Sill needs a ledge 24 inches long and 2 inches deep. Check how far the perch sticks out into the room too, since a deep perch can block blinds, curtains or a walkway.
Pro Tip: suction cups hold best on clean, smooth glass. Follow the maker’s installation steps and check the cups as the instructions say.

How to choose a cat window perch
Suction cups or sill mount?
Suction perches need a big, smooth pane that meets the listing’s size. Sill perches suit small, divided or textured windows, as long as the ledge or slot fits. If you rent, suction and hook-on perches need no drilling, while the K&H uses adhesive strips or screws.
How big is your cat, and how many cats do you have?
Most perches here list a 40 lb limit, but bed size matters as much. Compare the bed size with your cat’s length when it’s stretched out. With two cats, a second perch or a two-pack gives each cat its own spot.
Is the window safe?
Use the perch on a closed window if you can. If the window opens, make sure the screen is sturdy and fitted securely, since a cat leaning on a loose screen can fall. Keep cords from blinds out of reach, and check suction cups and hooks now and then.
Will your cat use it?
Pick a window with a view of birds or a yard, and put a familiar blanket or a few treats on the perch at first. For a cold window, see our picks for the best heated cat bed.
Black Friday tip: US Bing searches for “cat window perch” peaked at about 1,950 in December 2025, the highest month of the past year. Before the sales, measure your glass or sill, decide between a suction or sill mount, and note the size you need. Then check the current price and the seller on the listing.
Frequently asked questions
Are cat window perches safe?
They’re designed to be, when they’re fitted the way the maker says. Follow the listed weight limit, mount on clean, flat glass or a suitable sill, and check suction cups and hooks now and then. Use it on a closed window, or one with a sturdy, securely fitted screen.
Do suction-cup cat window perches fall?
They can if the glass is dirty or textured, the cups are worn, or the perch is overloaded. Choose a perch with large suction cups, follow the window-size rules on the listing, and ask the seller about replacement cups.
What is the best cat window perch for large cats?
Look for a 40 lb limit and a bed long enough for your cat to stretch out. The Zakkart Cat Perch for Windowsill with Bolsters (L) has a 24 × 15 inch bed, and the PEFUNY hammock lists a limit of more than 40 lb.
Can I use a cat window perch in a rental?
Usually, yes. Suction-cup perches and hook-on sill perches don’t need drilling. Adhesive strips and screws are more permanent, so check with your landlord first.
Is a heated cat window perch worth it?
For a cold window in winter or an older cat with stiff joints, it can be. The K&H Heated Kitty Sill needs a 24-inch ledge and an outlet nearby. In mild weather, an unheated perch with a fleece cover may be all your cat needs.
Our verdict
For most homes, the AMOSIJOY Cordless Cat Window Perch is the cat window perch we’d pick first. Choose the Zakkart supported-from-below perch for a jumpy cat, the Zoratoo 2PC for two cats and the Zakkart SnugCloud if you need to close curtains. If suction cups won’t work on your window, go with the Zakkart Bolsters or AMOSIJOY Windowsill sill perch, and choose the K&H Heated Kitty Sill for a cold winter window.
